Antique Shop Horrors: 21 July 2014

Teeth. There is no other feature on a work of art that can elevate it from simply strange and possibly interesting to just straight up scary.

This mask, for example:

The teeth!

This is the sort of mask that would gnaw the face of it’s unsuspecting wearer. It could have been ok, but nooooo. The artist had to add those teeth!

Not to mention the rest of the creepiness going on in the photo:

– Whose teeth are those in the partially photographed portrait located in the bottom left hand corner?

– Whose bust is that on the table in the background?

– Why is the woman in the portrait in the bottom right hand corner looking so irritated?

The world will likely never know.

  1. The head-like object reminds me of a Japanese oni mask, although a relatively calm one. My hypothesis as to why the lady in the lower right corner is irritated? Simple: She had better things to do that day.
